Posted on 10.22.2009 9:13am  |  Very solid advice Peggy. Toxic bosses are the worst. A manager/boss that is abusive, obviously lacks good leadership traits - (....and most of the time they know it or they fool themselves into thinking management by fear is good leadership because it "gets the job done"). What they all to often forget - the respect factor. I don't know one employee that would go the extra mile for an abusive boss, nor do I know of one employee that would stand up for a abusive boss when push comes to shove. What makes a successful team....... A "boss" is only as good as his support staff. Unfortunately, this does happen too often. As this site and community grow, we will have a special place for women to turn to when they are in this situation. Having an abusive boss can affect you emotionally and even physically - and I know some women who have lost sleep over it. Peggy, I look forward to hearing more from you on this issue as we develop this site. Thank You.  |  NO REPLIES YET
Posted on 10.21.2009 10:56am  |  I couldn't agree more Lindsey! Starting a business is hard work. Vision is great, but not enough - take it from me! You are so correct on getting mentors, but also an advisory board. Some may think that small businesses don't need advisory boards. OK...let's just call them advisors. Truth is, nobody knows everything. People would be surprised to see how easy it is to get people to lend their expertise - so...give it a try...just ask!!  |  NO REPLIES YET
